Because of high peaks, uneven string response, and popping and slapping techniques, probably no other instrument benefits as much as a bass from the dynamic control of a compressor. The BP5 is designed specifically to handle the electric bass and can also help protect damage to speakers and especially to tweeters from "slap noise."
