Bobby DeVito: BURNED - Living Through the 80s and 90s as a Rock Guitarist
Submitted on July 22, 2010.I'm currently reading "BURNED - Living Through the 80s and 90s as a Rock Guitarist", an autobiographical e-Book by Bobby DeVito.
Bobby is a professional musician (Stranger Danger, Stargarden, The X-Statics,...), popular member at the Harmony-Central effects forum and one of the great pedal reviewers on YouTube.
It's a very honest book about his life as a musician in the 80's and 90's and everything that's part of it (or his youth that preceded it): sex, drugs & rock'n'roll and the resulting divorces and rehabs. So far I can say it's very well written and fast and easy to read (even if English is not your mother tongue like me ;)).
You can buy the book at Scribd (US only) and Smashwords (worldwide, lots of file formats) for only $4.99, 10% of the proceeds goes to MusiCares, an organisation that helps musicians in times of need.
Bobby DeVito is on MySpace, Twitter and Facebook. There's also a Facebook page for the book (with a lot of old pictures) and a blog.
Overview of new pedals at the 2010 Summer NAMM show
Submitted on June 16, 2010.You can find my list of new pedals shown at this year's Summer NAMM show here. As with the last few events I use a dedicated category (with its own RSS feed) instead of updating the same post all the time (hard to see when it's updated).
All help pointing me to new pedals missing from that list is very much appreciated. Just make sure they were not already shown at Winter NAMM 2010 or Frankfurt Musikmesse 2010, some companies tend to release their "new" pedals multiple times :)
Update: Overview of new pedals at Musikmesse 2010
Submitted on March 19, 2010.The new pedals shown at the Musikmesse will be added to this page.
Please let me know if I missed something and make a lot of links to that page ;)
Overview of new pedals at the 2010 NAMM show
Submitted on January 13, 2010.You can find my list of new pedals shown at this year's NAMM show here. Instead of putting the list in this post and updating it, I thought a category page (with it's own RSS feed) would be better.
Due to circumstances I don't have a lot of time, so any help pointing me to information about new pedals which are not yet in the list is VERY welcome!
NAMM 2010: interested in pictures & information
Submitted on December 22, 2009.Once again no NAMM for me... I planned to go, but I just bought a house and will be too busy...
So once again I'm very much interested in seeing your pictures and other info about the pedals you'll see there, especially new models and new (or previously unknown) brands, even the cheap ones that are not very interesting to others.
If you go and plan to take a lot of pictures (of pedals), please let me know the URL's where you upload those pictures (during or after the show), so I can make a good overview of the new products.
Cave Passive Pedals
Submitted on November 8, 2009.Due to a lack of time I don't often post about new pedals, but this is (IMHO) quite special: a brand of passive effects pedals: Cave Passive Pedals from Australia.
Not just tone controls and switch boxes, but also octavers, ringmods and overdrive pedals, all working without a battery or adapter.
Rocktron releases 2 new series of pedals!
Submitted on October 21, 2009.At Winter NAMM Rocktron already showed some pedals from what they now called the Rocktron Boutique series of pedals, but nothing was heard about those since then. Now it seems they'll be available in a few days or weeks.
At the same time they'll also release the Rocktron Reaction series of compact pedals.
New Paul Lenders pedals
Submitted on September 13, 2009.I went to Antwerp's Mega Music Fair today, a very small fair of new and secondhand gear and this year it was smaller than ever. There was 1 very interesting booth though: the one of Paul Lenders Guitarsystems, where I saw 3 new pedals:
- the FuzzTool Junior, a light version of the FuzzTool
- Tony's BenderTool, a Tonebender clone originally made for Tony Spinner (of Toto).
- a prototype of the VibeTool, also made for Tony Spinner.
The summer holidays are over: new pedals!

- Blackout Effectos released the Twosome Dual Fuzz
- Catalinbread released the SFT Overdrive
- Roger Mayer released the Metalloid Dual Band HDD
