Spaceman Effects & The Dandy Warhols
August 15th, 1977: Earth received its first message from the depths of outer space. The Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University picked up a strong 72-second signal from the constellation Sagittarius, detected by astronomer Jerry R. Ehman. Circling the frequency code of the signal, 6EQUJ5, on the computer printout Ehman wrote, "WOW!" causing the alien message to become forever known as 'The WOW! Signal'. 'The WOW! Signal' was never heard again, despite several searches with a multitude of equipment.
The Dandy Warhols and Spaceman have created their own 'WOW Signal'. A special First Edition of the device to coincide with the release of their new album 'This Machine'.
This special edition pedal is electroplated in raw Copper, which will oxidize, giving each enclosure a unique personality over time. It also features a vintage 1959 US Aerospace dimmable indicator light, engraved knobs and includes an audio compact disc of the Warhols' 'This Machine'.
Limited to strictly 30 units, the pedal will ship within 6 weeks of ordering and will come with a free copy of 'This Machine' featuring 'The Wow Signal' signed by the band. The pedals are covered by a 3 year warranty.
Spaceman Effects (about the Anniversary Reissue)
Due to time and budget restraints with the original WOW Signal, we were unable to include the full amount of features that we had envisioned. We've spent some time since then, to outfit the original circuit with modifications to make it all we envisioned it to be.
These mods include:
- Switch 1: Remounts internal depth selector to outside panel
- Switch 2: Disengage LFO, which also turns Offset control into 2nd manual filter
- Switch 3: Speed selector - Wider speed range, including mega-fast ring-mod type sounds
- Sustain Mod: Adds a longer, smoother sustain to the fuzz-tone
We are now offering a special WOW Signal Anniversary Reissue with the Deluxe set of mods, in a special Brushed Chrome enclosure, with clear jewel and purple LED. Strictly limited to only 20 signed and numbered pieces with special anniversary packaging.
