Blatant Bernie is a Blender pedal, it mixes an input signal with an effect chain. With Bernie you can, for example, use your guitar distortion on a bass guitar: most Distortions cut off the lows quite a bit, so when you use them with your bass guitar, you have an unwanted loss of low frequencies.
With Bernie you can get the bottom end back into the mix, and shape the sound further with a 2-band baxandall tone control.
