Music Technology Inc. (MTI) was a wholesale & import company founded by Ernie Briefel in 1977 after he left Unicord.

In 1980 they bought Ampeg from Selmer-Magnavox and started selling Ampeg amplifiers that were made in Japan, but these were received badly. In 1984 their deal with Matsumoku, a Japanese guitar company who built their Westone guitars, ended in favor of SLM (who ordered their Electra guitars from Matsumoku).

MTI went bankrupt and/or was renamed to Music Industries Corporation (?)
