We all know how loud even low powered valve amplifiers are. A 5 watt valve amp is still just too loud to overdrive at home unless you want to seriously annoy the neighbours, wake the baby, or rattle the ornaments off the shelves. For those quieter, reflective moments spent composing your new single or serenading the wife, you definately need one of these.
It uses a tiny half watt IC amplifier chip, which has been around for quite a few years. We discovered that if you add an FET buffer in front of it and drive it hard, it distorts a bit like a valve amp. So plug in your Les Paul, jam your 4x12 into the speaker socket and play away. With the gain and volume at about halfway you've got country clean, dime it and Pete Townshend is there, in your living room. Great fun, and much sturdier than a pack of American Cigarettes (if you know what I mean).
