Me: Uh, Matt. I think your new Lazer Fuzz is broken. It’s all glitchy and scree and squall and it’s got modem noise and the extremely bright indicator light is blinking at me all strange and stuff and it made my guitar sound like I’ve hired a team of elves to rapidly insert and remove the cord from the jack and it’s unpredictable and it completely destroys my guitar.
Matt: Uh, yeah dude. That’s how it’s supposed to sound.
OK, so I’m dumb, but let me tell you, if you are looking for THAT kind of sound, a sort of analog version of bit reduction with resonant fuzz filtering all gated and circuit-bent and completely randomized, then this is definitely your pedal. Sweeping the knob thins out the fuzz and adds a resonant edge to the tone. Hitting it with a compressor first evens out the gate and it locks constant signal even better. Hit it with a drum machine and it’s instant Wax Trax circa 1988.
