The FuzzFing is a handcrafted clone of a particularly famous round analogue fuzz pedal from the late 1960s used by many of the rock guitar greats. These builds follow the original 60′s circuit design and component values, with a couple of minor practical tweaks for improved usability, such as power supply filtering and an indicator LED.
As with the original, they feature germanium transistors. These are widely considered to give a smoother and more satisfying sound than the modern silicon ones that replaced them. Since germanium transistors are increasingly rare and difficult to obtain nowadays, those used in this case are obtained from interesting and unusual sources, including Soviet military surplus!
