Introducing the QuantumDrive Overdrive/Distortion pedal. The first and only pedal to use the principals of quantum mechanics tunneling!
Use the Overdrive and QuantumDrive channels independently or chained together!
The Overdrive channel gives everything from subtle sweetening to TS-style drive to heavy crunch, all while retaining your playing dynamics.
The Quantum Drive channel gives an over-the-top unique distortion rich in dynamic harmonic content - after all it's based on quantum physics!
This is Acoustic Imaginearing's flagship pedal that uses a patent pending process to distort the sound by means of quantum mechanical tunneling. By using this process, electrons can tunnel though a barrier at a much more sensitive level than using standard diode distortion. This process also allows the waveform to enter a region of negative resistance, which is unlike any other distortion pedal on the market.
Tony Levin (King Crimson, Liquid Tension Experiment, Peter Gabriel, etc.) has used the pedal on tour with King Crimson and at the 400th Anniversary of Quebec. He has this to say about the product:
"As a bass player, I'm very particular about how fuzztones work with my sound, and have only found a few through the years that I could work with. So it was great to find that Acoustic Imaginearing's QuantumDrive fits the bill just right. A very cool, well designed effect."
Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Kaipa, The Tangent, etc.) has used the QuantumDrive on tour with The Flower Kings and has recorded with it on the critically acclaimed Transatlantic release "The Whirlwind".
Brett Kull (Echolyn, The New Progressives, Still, Always Almost, etc.) is currenly recording with this pedal for the upcoming Echolyn album. He has this to say about the device:
"I love it and use it quite often. The range of tone and sound option are amazing.... I can always find a sonic place with your pedal because of its diversity of tone."
The pedal is designed to work well with bass and standard guitar. One user writes: "It is one of the few pedals I've used, I would say, that doesn't completely kill your upper presence when the tone knob is down, making that setting more usable for me than others have been in the past. It's an interesting beast, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite pedals."
Other owners of the QuantumDrive include Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine, UK, Gong, Bruford, etc.), Steve Howe (Yes, Asia, Tomorrow), Gary Green (Gentle Giant), Peter Hammill (Van der Graaf Generator), Neal Morse (Spock's Beard), Rick Witkowski (Crack the Sky), and Stanley Whitaker (Happy the Man, Oblivion Sun) who uses it between his Paul Reed Smith guitar and Sewell amplifier.
This pedal is not just for leads! It can distort the most complex chords while retaining their clarity. Low distortion settings are extremely useful for giving a sweet blues crunch.
