[interview] Sound (by Malagoli): Érico Malagoli

Here's FXDB's interview with Érico Malagoli of Sound (by Malagoli):

How did Sound (by Malagoli) start?

My father was a guitar player and in Brazil in the 60's we had no choice of musical instruments and accessories. So he and his brother Jose made their first pedal.

Later they sold this pedal to earn money for a guitar. So they made another pedal, and another, and another... and the company started.

Some people helped us on our way, like Leonel Garcia and Henry Ho.

Sound (by Malagoli)Where do the name and logo come from?

Malagoli is our family's last name.

Our logo is a humbucker pickup. First it was a photo of a humbucker, later we changed it into a drawing.

Can you tell us something about the production process?

We have 20 people working in our company producing pickups and pedals.

All processes are done in our company, except the painting.Sound ES2

Which of your pedals makes you most proud?

Our ES-2 pedal.

Which of your pedals is the most popular?

Our ES-2 pedal is very popular in Brazil because some well-known Brazilian musicians used it and it has a great tone.

The interesting thing is about the siren button. Everybody remembers that.

Who uses your pedals and for which genres?

Not yet. We make that with our pickups

What does the future of Sound (by Malagoli) look like?

We have plans to bring back our older pedals and make new pedals too.

We now produce great pickups so we need a great line of pedals too.
