Here's FXDB's interview with Lukas Truninger of Prostage.
Prostage is owned by Lukas Truninger. In 2008 Lukas moved from Switzerland to Spain, where the products are developed and built now.
How did Prostage start?
I founded Prostage in 2001. I grew up in Switzerland and was already surrounded by technology & music as a child. As a teenager I was increasingly interested in audio electronics and tuned tube amps. I worked as a guitar technician / backliner for various known groups (such as Krokus, Udo Jürgens,...); later I was also on several tours as a sound engineer and tour manager. The experience gained has contributed to the design of my products.
We chose this name because our products are tailored to professional touring guitarists.
The "S" in the logo should hint at a cable that connects between foot controller and the guitar rack.
What sets Prostage apart from other builders?
The very sturdy housings and the StageWire interconnection (Data communication in both directions and power supply over a standard microphone cable)
Can you tell us something about the production process?
We have a supplier for the housings and an external company to assemble the PCB.
The circuits are SMT, the enclosures are manufactured using sheet steel according to our drawings
and finished with powder coating and screen printing.
For the XLR and Jack connection, we use Neutrik exclusively. In the Audio path, we use only high quality parts. The relais in the Loopers are Nais (same like Lehle), and the remote Wah uses a original Fasel coil.
Which of your pedals makes you most proud?
The Remote WahWah, because you can adjust all important parameters and we spent lot of time finetuning the control of the different parameters. You can adjust the sound to your preferences and the Wah sounds great.
Which of your pedals is the most popular?
The X07 foot controller, because most guitar players do not need hundreds of different presets but only a few.
Who uses your pedals and for which genres?
The products are mainly developed for professional, touring guitar players.
